This is one of the most sought after Plume Agates because of the richness of colors of black and often red plumes in a clear agate base.  It comes from Brewster County, Alpine, Texas.  The ranch is still open to fee collecting (2005).  If you should take a trip to search on your own, you may also find Sagenite, Fortification, Moss, Pompom, and other plume agates on the ranch.  Most of the material from the gemstones we are displaying are from material collected in the 1960’s.
