Rocky Butte
Picture Jasper is one of the
classic Oregon Picture Jasper varieties.
It is generally blue-gray and sepia, complete in many cases with
dendrites to appear as “trees and bushes.”
The primary location of origin is the Owhyee Mountains of
Eastern Oregon, near the Idaho border.
It is a porcelain jasper and only one of many varieties of
Picture Jasper that comes out of this area.
This jasper is one of the more unusual of the picture jaspers
and is widely known for its splendid array of colors and surreal
scenery.
