Beryl as a gemstone refers to all varieties of the Beryl group which are not Emerald-Green or Aquamarine-Blue. Its hardness is 7 1/2 - 8 however they are brittle therefore care must be taken against knocks. Beryl is offered in a variety of colors many or which have special names in the trade.

Golden Beryl is the yellow variety of beryl and varies in color from a lemon yellow to a beautiful golden yellow. The most important deposits are in Sri Lanka and Namibia. An increasingly popular gemstone for jewelry.
